Every single Bowflex home gym allows you to do dozens of different exercises, but there’s one here that offers a little bit more.
In terms of Bowflex PR3000 vs Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE, Xtreme is the winner, but let’s see by how much.
PR3000 allows you to do over 50 exercises, which is amazing. You can work your legs, back, abs, chest, arms, and much more. However, Xtreme 2SE lets you do over 70 exercises. This is largely due to the included squat bar, which lets you squat and do different bench presses.
Both are great of course, but Xtreme 2 SE makes it easier to work your whole body.
Bowflex gets its resistance from Power Rods. Unlike free weights, these are easier on your joints and much easier to move around. For example, you might be using 100lbs of resistance, but the bar itself doesn’t weigh nearly that much.
Every Bowflex system comes with 210lbs of resistance. That might be enough for some people and too light for others. Don’t worry, many gyms can be upgraded. Both of these allow upgrades, but the limit is different.
PR3000 only allows you to upgrade to 310lbs, which is respectable. Xtreme SE is even better with a maximum of 410lbs of resistance. Simply buy the bars, put them in place, and you’ll get a better workout.
Once again, both are good, but Xtreme 2 does more and is better overall.
Ease of Use
If you’ve seen our other Bowflex reviews, then you may have noticed that many of their gyms have significant differences when it comes to ease of use. Both of these are actually very similar, but as expected, Xtreme pulls ahead.
Both of these systems have the Bowflex Quick Change System (QCS). Both Bowflex and other cable-based home gyms usually require you to move cables when transitioning from handles to ankle straps or bars. That’s no longer the case with QCS.
All of the pulleys are connected to the Power Rod. There’s no need to change cables. Simply pick up the strap or bar and start lifting. When you want to change the exercise, then pick up another accessory and do your workout. You won’t have to waste time changing the cables.
This isn’t just more convenient. It also saves you time and makes it much easier to complete your fitness routine.
So while they’re the same in this regard, there is one addition that Xtreme 2 SE has, and this won’t be the last time you hear about it. It includes a squat bar. This lets you squat, bench press, and more. It adds versatility to the gym you don’t otherwise get.
While they’re similar overall, the win goes to Xtreme.
Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE vs PR3000: Storage
We can’t say too much about these two as they are identical here. Some Bowflex gyms fold up. We saw this with the Bowflex PR1000 and it was a handy feature. However, neither of these can fold.
That being said, neither of them require too much space. While it’s best to dedicate a whole room to your home gym, they can even fit in a corner without getting in the way.
They’re even about the same size, so we can’t say one fits in a room better than the other. However, the good news is that you should have no problem getting these even in a small room if space is at a premium.
Bowflex PR3000 vs Xtreme 2 SE: Accessories
We said you’d hear about the squat bar again, and we have to bring it up here. Both of these come with similar accessories, but there is a difference that we have to highlight in our Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE vs Bowflex PR3000 review.
They both give you handles and ankle straps, which ensures you can push and pull the bars with your targeted muscle group. However, as you already know, Xtreme has the squat bar that makes squatting so much easier.
That being said, many people have purchased a bar and added it to the PR3000. This is actually pretty easy and it gives the PR3000 some additional functionality. Be sure that the bar works with the pulley system.
We have to give the win to Xtreme, but you might want to save money by just getting a bar for the PR3000.
What’s the Difference Between Bowflex PR3000 and Xtreme 2 SE?
Curious about what’s the difference between Bowflex 2 SE and PR3000? While they are similar in many ways, we found some significant differences.
Both of them offer upgradable resistance, but PR3000 only goes to 310lbs while Xtreme goes to 410lbs. You get the Quick Change System with both, but Xtreme also comes with a squat bar and allows you to do 20 additional exercises.
However, we will say that PR3000 excels when it comes to price. You get nearly all the same features, but for a much smaller price tag. Keep this in mind when choosing between the two.
So, which is better here? While they are similar in many ways, we think that you’ll be happier with Xtreme 2SE. It comes with some more features, and having the additional weight limit is great if you want to truly work your body.
However, if you want to save some money and don’t mind missing out on a few features, then PR3000 is also a great choice.
